Youth Council

The mission of the NAACP Youth & College Division is to inform youth of the problems affecting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities; to advance the economic, education, social and political status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities and their harmonious cooperation with other peoples; to stimulate an appreciation of the African Diaspora and other people of color’s contribution to civilization; and to develop an intelligent, militant effective youth leadership.

When do we meet? We meet on the 1st Saturday of every month from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at The Family Investment Center located on 905 Main Street. (Unless otherwise posted on the website calendar)

What do we do? Glad you asked! We assist with a variety of community service/civic engagement activities such as packing care packages for the homeless, “Stop the Violence” marches, assist with voter registration drives, take tours of the Harriet Tubman Museum, Dr. King’s Center, etc. and whole lot more!!

Congratulations to the 2012 Macon-Bibb County NAACP ACT-SO Gold Medalists who will be representing us at nationals: Jeremiah Scott, Southwest High School; Quentez Howard, Westside High School; and Ricardo Hamlin, Westside High School.
